Honeymoon Ideas & Honeymoon Locations
Honeymoons are too often an afterthought to wedding planning, when, in terms of memories, they are of equal, if not greater, importance. It’s a time that you’ll remember for the rest of your life so think carefully about honeymoon ideas and honeymoon locations.
First decide what your goals are for the trip and what you can and can't live without. Where do you want to go? What do you want to do? What are your priorities? Beautiful weather, sightseeing, adventure, cost etc. Discuss honeymoon ideas with your partner, talk about locations, research on the internet and ask your friends and family for opinions.
Trips to secluded beach islands or resorts are traditionally popular, and for good reason. They allow you to spend quality, quiet time with each other whilst relaxing from the busy schedule of the previous few months and taking in beautiful surroundings.
Cruises are another option; they give you the same quality, relaxing time whilst also allowing you to take in a range of destinations. If you would prefer a more active honeymoon, you could try a mountain resort or an adventure travel trip (such as backpacking or a safari).
As for honeymoon locations, consider the following: Argentina, Australia, Bahamas, Bali, Belize, Bermuda, Brazil, Canada, Caribbean, Central & South Africa, Chile, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Egypt, Fiji, France, French Polynesia, Greece, Hawaii, Italy, Kenya, Madagascar, Maldives, Mauritius, Mexico, Morocco, New Zealand, Seychelles, Spain, Thailand.
Whichever type of honeymoon and location you decide on, try to book it at least 6 months in advance so that you’ll get the best choice of rooms and can start planning. See if there is a ‘romance’ or ‘honeymoon’ package available to enhance your time away; extras such as penthouse rooms, champagne and flowers can make it even more memorable.
Research and book tours, tickets, restaurant seats, and any other activities that require advance reservations, especially if you're traveling during peak season. Try not to over-plan though and make sure there is plenty of free time, especially during the first few days, in which you can just enjoy each others company without any other distractions.
Do what you can to make your honeymoon different to an ordinary vacation. Along with your normal vacation items, try taking some fun extras with you, such as romantic music, candles, bubble bath, massage lotion and lingerie. Also, be sure to take a camera and video camera with you as it’ll be a time that you'll want to remember forever.
